Have you ever been blessed to be in the presence of a Southern Magnolia in full bloom? Those enormous white blooms open up beautifully to welcome you under its graceful yet sturdy sheltering branches. Its scent floats on the spring breeze and gives you a sense of comfort and home. No matter where you are in the southeastern United States, you will find these trees of wonder. They seem to live forever. Generations upon generations have enjoyed and beheld the glory of the Southern Magnolia.
Here in my own hometown of Jonesboro, GA, the home of Gone with the Wind, there are still hundreds of these magnificent beauties lining the yards of some of the oldest homes in the county. When you pass one of these homes and its tree-laden acreage, you are beholding the same scene that many generations past also witnessed. I can almost picture Scarlett and Rhett standing on the front lawn.
In the small town of Pendleton, SC there lives a Southern Magnolia by the name of Nancy Hellams aka ohme. When she speaks of her hometown as she often does, the love shines through as beautiful ray of light. You can feel the pride clear to your heart.
In the lens Southern Magnolia Tree, Nancy shows us her favorite Southern Magnolia, the tree she grew up seeing on her path to school. I will leave it to this wonderful lenmaster to tell you just how long ago that was.
The pictures she presents are so clear and so temptingly gorgeous; you can smell the blossoms and nearly reach for them. I can envision her sitting on Aunt PittyPats porch having lemonade and gingerbread on a warm summer afternoon with the breeze gently blowing. All the while those magnificent blossoms sway on the branches of a regal Southern Magnolia tree.
Can you see it?

Squidoo Lens Reviews: What makes you passionate about Squidoo.com?
OhMe: There are at least 3 things that make me passionate about Squidoo:
- The number one reason that I am passionate about Squidoo is that it has enabled my sister, Joan (Joan4 on Squidoo), and I to work together on something. We are on the phone or emailing all through the day and it has been great. I am very close to both my sisters but it is always especially nice to find things you can do together. Joan got me started with Squidoo when she did a lens on Pendleton. She knew if I ever tried it, I would be hooked and she was right.
- It has been great to be able to do my part in promoting our small town through Squidoo. I have 4 lens about Pendleton, SC and they are all seeing a good bit of traffic.
- I have to admit that I do enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with a good lens. I don't work so I miss that feeling that comes when you know you have done something good and it is rewarded. Oh, how I do love those rewards like lensrank, stars, positive comments, etc.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: Is Squidoo perfect already or what could make it better?
OhMe: I think Squidoo is great and am too new at this to be making any suggestions for improvement. I just hope that they are able to keep up with the large number of Squidoo-ers.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: What inspires you to make a new lens?
OhMe: Everything I hear, everything I see, and everything I do. My friends and family joke that I want to make a lens about everything. I guess I am truly addicted because that is the first thing that pops into my head when I experience something: Hey, that would make a good lens. I am sure there are lots of people who know exactly what I am talking about but not sure all would be willing to admit it.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: How many lenses do you have?
OhMe: I only have seven right now but hope to be at ten by the end of September.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: What is your most popular lens?
OhMe: My most popular lens is
Pendleton Photos. I have enjoyed all the positve, fun feedback on the Pendleton Old Photos lens. It has been to receive the comments on those pictures. People have contacted me that I haven't heard from in years.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: What one sentence or one word describes your success?
OhMe: That would have to be "Thank you, Joan". Joan has been very patient with me and taught me so much. She really ought to have classes for newbies. Hey, I think I will do a lens about Joan.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: What should a newbie do first?
OhMe: Joan insisted from the beginning that I understand about "community" within squidoo and the importance of going to the forum and reading, learning, and posting. She taught me that I should try to read and rate at least 5 lenses a day and learn from them.
Squidoo Lens Reviews: Which of your lenses do you want to make sure the whole world knows about?
OhMe: I want the whole world to know how wonderful Pendleton, SC is so any of the 4 Pendleton lenses:

OhMe has created
Pendleton — Old Photos. The pictures, circa early 1900, show you slices of life in Pendleton, South Carolina along with some commentary from a 90-year-old woman who grew up in Pendleton — Miss Ruth Boggs. An interesting read. OhMe is another one of Squidoo's enthusiastic lensmasters. Looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next!
