Congratulations to all new Giant Squids and Giant Squid 100s!

It was a happy bunch of Squids online, today. The Giant Squid Community Organizers reached deep and did not keep potential Giants and hopeful Giant 100s waiting long. Way before the worry and self-doubt took a foothold, the GSCOs were emailing announcements to the new Giants and the new Giant 100s.

Today, I am a new Giant Squid. It's hard to explain how that feels because I believe it's just too much to take in all at once. Therein lies a hint as to the importance of becoming a Giant Squid.

Anyway, today had a special surprise for some of us new Giants — the purple stars! I'm pretty sure that I don't know who all received the award, so if you are a new Giant Squid who received a purple-star for one or more of your lenses, let me know — I'd like to build up the purple-star shout-out list that I have started below:
